  • If you’re going to learn something, you might as well learn from its source! The “Design Soap” qualification was a recent invention in Japan, and your instructors were among the first soap makers to receive this title. An experienced staff of soap specialists will take you carefully through the steps, so don’t worry if it’s your first time!
  • You can customize your soap making experience with a wide selection of over 50 scents and colors! Among the many essential oils and fragrances, there are even some rare scents found nowhere else.

In this experience, you can make this Marseille soap in Akihabara, Tokyo! Gather up natural ingredients like coconut and olive oil, for your own handmade, deeply moisturizing beauty soap!
    • The Cold Process Method
      In this soap making experience, you will be learning the “cold process” method, a professional method of crafting handmade soap. This method pays great attention to the temperature of the materials, to maintain the nutritional value of the natural oils.
    • Where is the soap making experience?
      Head to where the soap making experience will take place! “JDSA Tokyo” is in a building only a 3-minute walk away from Akihabara Station. The white-based interior is filled with soap-making equipment, and will fill you with anticipation for all the colors and scents you’ll be able to choose from! 
    • What color will you make your soap?
      This experience will let you make your own beauty soap using professional methods! Using the wide selection of samples, decide first what colors and scents you want to add to your soap. There are more than 50 options for scents alone! Pick your favorite scented oils and natural fragrances.
      Picture the soap you want to make, and take your time. If you feel lost, you can ask your instructors for recommendations! 
    • The process of making your handmade beauty soap
      Once you’ve decided on your color and scent, it’s time to put them together! Measure the ingredients and slowly mix them over 10-30 minutes. You’re aiming for a custard-like consistency.
    • Your beauty soap making experience is complete!
      Pour the ingredients into a mould, and - voila - you’ve just gifted yourself 5 unique blocks of high-quality soap! Hold your horses before you go rubbing it everywhere though. Like all good things, the soap will need some time before you can use it. They will be delivered to you 2-4 weeks after the workshop date (Shipping fees will be paid by the participant).
      
      Stamping the soap is a complimentary service to give them a little bit of flare. There are several types of stamps, so if you find a favorite, have your soaps pressed before they’re shipped!
    • JDSA TOKYO
      The acronym in “JDSA Tokyo” stands for “Japan Design Soap Association.” This store specializing in handmade soap was the first in Japan to establish the “Design soap” qualification. The store has a vast selection of safe soap ingredients and fragrances, and also sells a variety of materials, tools, and soap making kits. This makes it a great place to experience soap making, for those who might want to continue it at home!
