    • "Oshibana" Chopstick-Rests: Hand-made Crafts with Pressed Flowers!
“Oshibana”, or flower pressing, is an art in which plants, fruits, leaves and flowers are flattened into images and pieces of art. Pressed flowers are able to vividly preserve the beauty of natural vegetation, and the key to preserving the flower’s vibrant color is to use thoroughly dried fresh flowers. Because of the flowers’ organic nature, no two pressed flower arts will come out the same. In this craft class, you’ll be making a cute chopstick-rest decorated with such pressed flowers!
    • Pick your Pressed Flower: So many Choices!
After some initial instructions, your craft class begins! You’ll first pick the pressed flowers to place inside your chopstick-rest. The wide selection of pressed flowers is just as expected from an art workshop specializing in that craft, and makes choosing a real ordeal! Will you pick a variety of colors for vibrance, or use fewer colors more deliberately? It’s all up to you!
    • Shape your Flower Chopstick-Rests with UV Resin
After you’ve decided on the layout of your pressed flowers, you’ll start shaping your chopstick-rest with UV resin! UV resin comes in liquid form, but becomes a transparent solid when exposed to UV rays. For its ease of manipulation and quick solidification (about 5 minutes under UV rays), UV resin is becoming more and more popular as a material for DIY projects!
    • Complete! Your Hand-made Floral Chopstick-Rests
Once the resin has solidified, your very own chopstick-rests are complete! The resin dries into a transparent solid, making your pressed flower inside appear very vibrant! The chopstick-rest is like a tiny diorama of nature’s beauty, and adds a splash of color to your everyday dining table.
    • Atelier Hana-ya
Your pressed flower & chopstick-rest making workshop will take place in “Atelier Hana-ya”. Under the concept of “enriching people’s lives with flowers”, Atelier Hana-ya hosts many craft classes where you can learn how to make pressed flowers, clay crafts, herbariums, and more!
Your instructor is an expert of pressed flowers who has published books on the craft, made TV appearances, and even taken on animation production using pressed flowers. Not only does she have craft classes, but also a variety of lesson courses that are certified to grant qualifications!
    • Craft Classes in a Homey Workshop
The craft classes take place in the instructor’s personal Tokyo home salon. Craft classes are conducted in small groups, so you can enjoy the crafts in a homey atmosphere with your fellow participants! Visit Atelier Hana-ya to make vivid, original art pieces that enrich your everyday life!
