【Tokyo/Sake/Cuisine】Eyes Up, Bottoms Up: Open-Air Bus Tour and Japanese Sake Tasting Course!

【Tokyo/Sake/Cuisine】Eyes Up, Bottoms Up: Open-Air Bus Tour and Japanese Sake Tasting Course!

  • Take the high ground aboard the SKY BUS and experience the heart of Tokyo in a brand-new way! The Sky Bus gives you a full 360-degree view of your journey, and commentary will guide you along the way.
  • After leaving the bus, you will set out to explore the architecture and history of Ginza’s glamour!
  • Dinner will be a traditional charcoal broil, using a fireplace known as an “Irori”. To many, this fixture symbolizes the nostalgia of traditional Japanese homes, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find it anywhere else in Tokyo!
  • You’ll also be served a tasting course of some of northern Japan’s finest Sake (rice wine). Although they’re all called Sake, there’s still a whole world of difference between their flavors!

    • Board SKY BUS Imperial Palace - Ginza - Marunouchi (50minutes)
The double-decker Sky Bus takes you on a ride through Tokyo’s heart, the Marunouchi Area. Although it might not seem like a big difference, the second-floor view of the Sky Bus gives you a whole new view of Tokyo!
    • Educational tour Wako-Honkan Building
The tour will stop by Wako-Honkan, the proud structure whose clocktower has come to symbolize Ginza. Ever since its creation in 1932 by architect Watanabe Jin, the clocktower has always sounded its bells 45 seconds before every hour. The location is also famed for having the highest land value in all of Japan.
    • Educational tour Kabuki-za Theatre (30minutes)
This is the centre of the traditional art of Kabuki — a stage play characterized by bombastic movements and striking makeup. There won’t be a viewing during this tour, but Kobiki-cho Square, underground the theatre, has plenty of food stands and vendors to give you a satisfying taste of Kabuki’s culture.
    • Experience Hakobune Daiginjo Irori (90minutes)
This is the only place in Ginza that serves its food over an irori — a now-rare, traditional charcoal fireplace. The irori is unique from western fireplaces, in the way it is fixed to the middle of the room and not any of the sides.
As the fresh char cooks over the glowing charcoal, a specially selected, 3-piece tasting course of Sake will keep you company. Their tastes are worlds apart — you might like some, and not like others — but their quality is real! If you’ve never tried Sake, this will be a great way to get you introduced.
