Nagatoro Gorge
Nagatoro Gorge
Nagatoro Gorge is a 6-kilometer long gorge located in western Saitama. It is designated as a national natural monument. The iwadatami rocks are one of Nagatoro Gorge’s main sights. The rocks seem as if they are thinly layered, and can be found on the riverbank. You can enjoy the view of the iwadatami rocks as you have some shaved ice, made with the fresh water from Nagatoro. You can go on a boat tour down the river. There are both slow, gentle courses and more rough, adventurous ones. In the winter, special kotatsu boats run on the river. They have built in kotatsu, or heated tables, to keep you warm as you enjoy the nature at Nagatoro.
