Yanagigosho Ruins locates in the town of Hiraizumi in southern Iwate. It is the ruins of a Heian Period (974 – 1185) palace. Many ancient works of pottery and wooden items have been uncovered in this area. Yanagigosho Ruins is famous for having high-quality artifacts compared to other ruins in Iwate prefecture. In 2010, the area was designated as a historic park. Yanagigosho Ruins is a great place for learning about the culture of the Heian Period.
