Ebino Eco Museum Center

Ebino Eco Museum Center stands on the slopes of the Kirishima mountain range, in an area straddling Miyazaki and Kagoshima Prefectures in Japan’s southwest. The tourist center is the base point for exploring the Kirishima Geopark, and offers information about hiking routes as well as Kirishima’s nature and history. The center is situated 1,200 meters above sea level in the middle of the Ebi-no-Kogen highlands, surrounded by Mount Kara-kuni-dake, Mount Ebino-dake and Mount Shira-tori-yama The active volcano of Mount Io-dake is right in front of the center. Ebino Echo Musuem Center is the base point for a popular two-hour long trek that includes stops to three crater lakes. The route also has stunning views of the Kirishima mountains, and the majestic Sakurajima volcano can be seen from atop Mt Shiratori. The center's helpful staff have excellent knowledge about the surrounding hills and their ecology. They can also direct you to the best photo spots for each season.
