Fukushima Lagoon
Fukushima Lagoon locates in Niigata city, the capital of the prefecture. It is the largest lagoon in the prefecture, measuring 2.62 square kilometers. The lagoon is ideal for bird watching. In fact, around 220 of the 450+ different types of birds found in Niigata prefecture can be found here. Fukushima Lagoon was created when a river was blocked off by a dune. This explains all of the unique special creatures found.
