Ponshukan Echigoyuzawa Station

"Ponshukan" stands inside Echigo-Yuzawa Station in Niigata Prefecture. It is a shop museum which features food from Echigo, mainly local sake. The musem has a section called "Kiki-zake Koshino-muro," where you can try local sake from a total of 92 breweries in Niigata Prefecture. For 500 yen, you can receive 5 medals, the store's original sake cup, and try and compare up to 5 sake brands from over 100 breweries. We recommend you search for your favorite sake with salt from all over Japan prepared in a corner as snack. Aside from the museum, there is a liquor bath, local specialty shop, and a restaurant. A specialty of the restaurant "Bonbori" is the "bomb rice ball" of Koshihikari rice from Minami Uonuma. It is a large rice ball, and you can choose from 14 types of ingredients such as pickled plum and Namba miso.
