Takase Shrine
Takase Shrine
Takase Shrine is located in Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture. It was the top ranked shrine in the former Etchū province (now Toyama prefecture). The date of its construction is not clear, but the shrine is said to have an ancient and honorable origin with history that continues from the era of Emperor Keikō from 2,000 years ago. The main deity enshrined here is Ōkuninushi no Mikoto, known as the god of fortune and marriage. Also enshrined here is the god of sound health and longevity and along with the god of forestry and traffic safety. Within the shrine grounds are the main shrine, the Koreiden mausoleum with beautiful carvings, and a Nade Usagi, or “Petting Rabbit”, that is said to alleviate pain in the same spot on your body that you pet. Lastly is the Takase Inari-sha, which is a popular “power spot” for luck with money and is said to help businesses prosper. (Photo by Takase Shrine)
