Miyazaki Prefecture's Nichinashi Phoenix Road is located along the coast of Miyazaki city to the Toi Cape of Kushima city. This area has been loved by many for its superb ocean views on the National Highway No. 220. The popularity for touring and driving along the coast has landed Nichinanshi Phoenix Road a spot on Japan's top 100 roads. The combination of the phoenix trees and palm trees along the road and the endless blue skies over the ocean will automatically bring your spirits up! Many sightseeing spots, such as Aojima, famous for the devil's washing rock, Horikiritouge, Uto Shrine, stage for Japan's myths, and Toi Cape, are all located along the coast.
There are also many restaurants where you can eat meals with the freshest seafood. Enjoy a coffee at the nearby cafes afterwards. Although this area is enjoyable year-round, it is most recommended to visit during early summer when the bougainvilleas bloom!
