Ashigakubo Icicles
Ashigakubo Icicles
The Ashigakubo Icicles are in Chichibu-gun, western Saitama Prefecture. It is an artificial icicle field created using the cold temperature, and is famous as one of the three major icicle sceneries in Chichibu.
The icicles are made by local residents, in a way that covers the mountain slopes. The icicles' sizes are stunning at 200m wide and 30m high. A maintained trail allows visitors to see up close the beautiful and magnificent world of ice. In particular, the view from the top is spectacular after reaching the peak of the trail. The scenery that combines the icicle field with the train passing nearby is a highlight of any visit, and many tourists ready their cameras to line up the perfect shot.
On weekend nights, the icicles are illuminated. You can enjoy the fantastic sight of icicles emerging from the darkness.
