Kuramadera Temple

Kuramadera Temple has a history of around 1200 years, and is known as the place that, according to legend, shogun Minamotono Yoshitsune learned martial arts from a tengu, a goblin-like creature with a long nose. The entrance lies near ground level, and the main hall is a whole 400 meters above it. The hike up to the main hall is a 30-minute hike, or you can take a cable car up to it. At the Kuramadera Museum near the main hall, there are exhibits related to the history of mount Kurama and the natural geography of the area.
