Tenryu Temple
Tenryu Temple
Tenryu Temple is located in the Rinzai sect of Kyoto City in Kyoto Prefecture. It is registered as one of the world heritage sites as a cultural property of the ancient capital Kyoto, and it has been chosen as the top of "Kyoto Gozan" which determines the style of Zen temples, and is a high-grade temple next to Nanzenji. This temple was built by Mr. Ashikaga in 1339 in order to honor the Emperor Gojo. In the hall where Buddha's teachings are explained, a 9m long painting of a dragon, which was painted in honor of the 650th year of open mountains, hangs from the ceiling. This majestic painting is definitely captivating at first sight. In the surrounding area, there is also a restaurant where you can taste the vegetarian dishes that do not use any of the animal ground created as a part of Zen Buddhism practices.
