Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street, located in northern Osaka, is known as Japan's longest shopping street. It is approximately 2.6 km long and has about 600 shops. This shopping street that leads to the Osaka Tenmangu Shrine was used as a shopping area for dried foods and greens during the Edo Period. During the beginning of the Meiji Period, the shops and atmosphere transformed into today's shape. Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street has stores ranging from restaurants, grocery stores, to vintage shops. Enjoy tasting Osaka's famous foods, such as croquette, takoyaki, and skewers, while walking around the area. Every July, one of Japan's top 3 festivals, Tenjin Festival, takes place. With a history of over 1,000 years, over 1.3 million people come each year. The highlight of the festival would definitely be the fireworks on the last day.
