Toujinbo
Toujinbo
Toujinbo is a precipitous cliff that came about from continuous erosion. This 1km long cliff is located in Sakai City of the northern part of Fukui Prefecture. Toujinbo is treasured in many ways. One being that this cliff is made of pyroxene andesite, which only exists in 3 places in the world. Second, the formation of Toujinbo and the two islands, Antou Island and Oshima Island, have been designated as Natural Monuments by the country. The cliff stands at 25 meters above water level. Looking over the cliff takes courage, but that itself is also a great view. At Toujinbo, there is a cruise ship that takes you around the cliff. You can look up at the spectacular cliff throughout the 30 minute cruise. Close by is the Toujinbo tour. You can look out on the beautiful view from 100 meters above sea level. The area is filled with stores that give off friendly, home-like feelings. Taste the fresh seafood and vegetables at the shopping street. Why not stop by after being in awe at Toujinbo.
