Eiheiji Temple
Eiheiji Temple
Eiheiji Temple, located in Eiheiji town of Fukui Prefecture, was opened as the headquarters of the Japanese Soto sect because of Dogen Zenji. Inside the grounds, there are over 70 buildings, however, out of all the buildings, the 7 Zen Buddhism buildings, Shichidougaran, are the highlight. Aside from those buildings, the Fukan zazengi, exhibitions with many Important Cultural Properties, "Rurishouboukaku", and "Picture Ceiling of Sanshoukaku" with 230 drawings on one wall, are definitely recommended. At Eiheiji Temple, you can try zen mediation, sutra copying, and other practices of Zen Buddhism. How about getting the full experience of Zen Buddhism with a visit to Eiheiji Temple?
