Tottori Sand Dunes

Tottori Sand Dunes
The Tottori Sand Dunes are spread out along the coast of the Sea of Japan in Tottori City, Tottori Prefecture. It is the largest sand dune in Japan with the amazing length of 2.4km from north to south and 16km from east to west. Sand that had been carried by wind from the Chugoku region accumulated over a long period of 100,000 years, completing a vast dune. At the Tottori Sand Dunes, you can enjoy various activities, such as paragliding, sand boarding (sliding on the sand), and peaceful sand dune yoga. You can also try camel riding, where you can enjoy the sight of riding through a vast, sandy terrain, almost as if you were walking in an Egyptian desert. There are also rental boots, slippers, and a foot wash area, so you do not have to worry about sand getting into your shoes. Finally, do not forget to visit the Sand Museum to see all of the world-class sand sculptures.
