View of Mikurigaike Pond

Mikurigaike Pond

Mikurigaike Pond is a caldera lake located on the Murodo Plain in Toyama prefecture. It sits 2,400 meters above ground level, and is a part of the Kurobe Alpine Route. The pond’s circumference measures 630 meters and has a depth of 15 meters. This caldera lake is considered the most beautiful out of all the ponds in Japanese Northern Alps. Its viewing season is between July and October, since the pond is covered in snow all other months. From the nearby observatory, you can see Mount Jodo reflected onto the pond in a heart-like shape. You can visit Mikurigaike Onsen hot springs on your way back. The waters of the baths are great for healing neuralgia and fatigue recovery.
