Iwachu Tekkikan Museum specializes in Nambu Tekki, a traditional ironware from Iwate prefecture. Nambu Tekki has a history of over 400 years, and the most well known form is it is the iron kettle. Nowadays, there are Nambu Tekki frying pans, pots, teapots and more. The gallery at Iwachu Tekkikan Museum is the biggest in Iwate prefecture. It is run by Iwachu Casting Works, which was founded in 1902. Every year, Iwachu creates around a million iron works, and are shipped throughout the country and the entire world. At the souvenir shop, you can purchase these Iwachu items. The designs, called the “IWACHU Brand”, are made to fit in with contemporary living, whilst maintaining their traditional touch.
