Shosenkyo Gorge

Shosenkyo Gorge during the fall

Shosenkyo Gorge

Shosenkyo Gorge, in Yamanashi prefecture’s city of Kofu, is said to be one of Japan’s most beautiful gorges. Kakuenbo Peak is especially renowned for its amazing view. The gorge is designated as a national special scenic site. The fall foliage at Shosenkyo Gorge is stunning. Since there is a drastic elevation difference throughout the gorge, the fall foliage can be enjoyed for over a month. There is a walking path set up in the valley, so you can walk around the gorge. Nearby, there are many restaurants that serve Yamanashi delicacies like hoto, a miso-based soup with thick noodles.
