Kitayamazaki Cliffs
Kitayamazaki Cliffs
The Kitayamazaki Cliffs in eastern Iwate stretches about 8 kilometers. The cliffs are a result of years of erosion. There has been little construction done on the cliffs; only the bare minimum to allow sightseeing. There are three observatories, with the first one being accessible to those in wheelchairs, since it has no stairs. The coast boasts beautiful scenery year-round. In the spring and summer, the area is surrounded by fresh greenery, and it turns into the fall foliage in autumn. Kitayamazaki is covered in snow in the winter, creating a romantic view. Visitors can hop on a boat tour to see Kitayamazaki Cliffs from the ocean.
