Yaegaki Shrine
Yaegaki Shrine
Yaegaki Shrine locates in Matsue, Shimane. This shrine is said to be where the first wedding in Japan took place, between the deities Susano-no-mikoto and Inata-hime. Throughout the shrine grounds, there are several spots related to ancient Japanese legends. One in particular is Kagami-no-ike Pond, located in the back of the prayer hall. According to legend, Inata-hime used the pond as a mirror, and the pond is now said to bring luck in matchmaking. Every May, a festival to wish for a successful harvest is held at the shrine. In October, the festival’s main festival is held.
