Shukunegi is located in the Niigata Prefecture's Sado Island floating on the Sea of Japan. It is a district where many traditional buildings are preserved. Having prospered for maritime transportation business in the late Edo Period, the town was designated as Japan's Important Preservation District for Groups of Historic Buildings in 1991. The area’s highlights are Sankakuya, which is characterized by the triangle shape and has been designated as the city's monument, and the ship mooring stone that was used to fix ships. The precious remnants lead you to visualize the conditions at the time of its prosperity. In the vicinity is "Sado Geopark,” you can fully enjoy the nature of Sado Island through such activities as walking.  There are several model courses available, allowing you to choose the one you like.
