Bandaisan is located in the western part of Fukushima prefecture, spanning the towns of Inawashiro, Bandai, and Kitashiobara. It is a dormant volcano composed of Mt. Bandai, Kushigamine, and Mt. The 1888 eruption caused the collapse of the northern mountain body. Lake Inawashiro is the best place to look at Mt. Bandai. A great view spot overlooking the whole beautiful mountain. In addition, the autumn leaves are also highlights. Along the Urabandai Expressway, you can see a spectacular view of the mountain, which burns with autumn leaves from early October. Bandai is famous for mountain climbing. The safety prayer ceremony, held in early spring every May, is the signal to open the mountain. There are various mountain trails, which are crowded with mountaineers in summer.
