Jikeidou at Kita-in

Kita-in

Kita-in is located in Kawagoe City in the southwestern part of Saitama Prefecture. Kita-in Temple was founded in 830 by the Buddhist priest, Enjin (also known as Jikaku Daishi). The Tokugawa family has deep connections to this place, and It has been revered as an important historical site. The mountain gates, bell tower gates, and shrines are designated as Important Cultural Properties, and the precincts are famous for their numerous preserved cultural properties. Among them, the “Gohyakukan” that expresses human emotions is one of the highlights. This masterpiece consists of 540 stone Buddhas lining the grounds. Events such as Daruma City, February Setsubun, and the Spring Cherry Blossom Festival are held in the New Year Season.
