Ozegahara

Ozegahara
Ozegahara is a highland plain, which spreads over 3 prefectures: Hinoemata Village, Fukushima Prefecture and Uonuma City, Niigata Prefecture and Katashina Village, Gunma Prefecture. It was formed around 10,000 years ago in Oze National Park.
Ozegahara, the 6 km long, 2 km wide plain that is 1,400 m above sea level, is famous for its tours around the plains. Areas aside from the designated walking paths are off limits in order to protect the beautiful nature, especially the famous skunk cabbage and the Sphagnum moss. The area is a wide space for about a 10km radius from Ozegahara, and Mt. Hiuchigatake and Mt. Shibutsu can be seen in a 360-degree view.
Food stands with local products open up along with the start of the hiking season, May of every year.
