Kappa Bashi Bridge
Kappa Bashi Bridge
Kappa Bashi (bridge) is in Kamikochi, Matsumoto City, central Nagano Prefecture. It is a landmark of Kamikochi and was mentioned in the novel "Kappa" by the author Ryunosuke Akutagawa.
From the bridge, you can see the Hodaka Mountain Range, Mt. Akatukidake, the surface of the Azusagawa River, and a vivid scenery of green Keshoyanagi leaves (willow tree family). With the lively hues of autumn leaves only being one example, the landscape of Kappa Bashi takes on a different beauty with every season.
On the Kappa Bashi riverside, the Kamikochi Kaizan Festival (mountain opening festival) is held in late April and the Kamikochi Heizanshiki (mountain closing ceremony) in mid-November. By participating in the Kamikochi Walk Rally from early May to early July, it is possible to receive an award by collecting stamps while enjoying Kamikochi's fresh green forest.
