Mt. Ontakesan

Mt. Ontakesan rides on Kisomachi and Otakimura of Nagano Prefecture and Gero City and Takayama City of Gifu Prefecture. This active volcano is 3,067m high.
You can take the ropeway up to the 7th tier of the mountain. From there, it is about an hour hike to the 8th tier. Once you reach the 8th tier, a whole new world is opened up. Amazing views of the surrounding mountains and towns spread all around. This tier is a great spot to see the colorful autumn leaves during mid September to mid October.
At the Takayama Plantation, you can see various flowers that only bloom at high altitudes. Please come visit Mt. Ontakesan to see the nature and breathtaking views.
