Myotsuji Temple
Myotsuji Temple, which is famous for its Buddhist culture, is located in Obama City. This Shingon Buddhist temple was built by Tamuramaro Sakaue in the year of 806. This temple has so many must-see cultural properties! The main temple, built in the Kamakura Period, and the three-storied tower、 with the heigh of 22 meters, are designated as national treasures. The wooden statue of "Yakusi-nyorai" and "Jinga-daisho-rituzo" are designated as Important Cultural Properties. The precincts of the temple is in deep green. There will be cherry blossoms in the spring and will decorated with autumn leaves in the autumn. Obama city holds multiple events regarding Buddhist practices, such as "Omizutori", which is held on May 2nd at Myotsuji Temple and on May 12th at Todaiji Temple.
