Okunoshima Island

Okunoshima Island and a rabbit

Okunoshima Island

Okunoshima Island, located in the Seto Inland Sea, is commonly called "rabbit island" as it is home to over 700 bunnies. The infiltration began after a few rabbits were left on the island in the 1970s, and the rest is history. Though lesser known than the rabbits, the island has a darker side to its history as a poison gas factory site during the first and second World Wars.
