Kurashiki Ivy Square
"Kurashiki Ivy Square" is located in Kurashiki-shi, the Southern area of Okayama Pref. The tourist facility unites a hotel and cultural facilities by renovating the old Kurashiki Spinning factory founded in the Meiji era.
The retrospective and stately red-brick building is covered with ivy, for which it is named after. It is designated to be a Heritage of Industrial Modernization as a facility to contribute to the modernization of spinning industry. This facility is furnished with accommodation functions as well as workshops to experience ceramic art, and a classic restaurant and bar. In the same premises, there is the "Kurabo Memorial Hall" utilizing the raw cotton warehouse at the time of its foundation, telling us about the industry progress in those days.
Immediately close to Kurashiki Ivy Square is "Kurashiki Bikan Chiku" (Kurashiki beautiful sight area), the representative tourist spot of Kurashiki. You can enjoy beautiful townscape full of exotic mood, symbolized by white walls. Other attractions for you may be the Jinrikisha(rickshaw) tour or river cruise to enjoy the taste of this area in a relaxed manner.
