The Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival is held annually in the town of Kawazu in Shizuoka prefecture. Kawazuzakura cherry blossom trees are known to bloom a month or two earlier than the average cherry blossom tree, such as the someiyoshino. By mid February, around 8,000 kawazuzakura cherry blossom trees around the town begin to blossom. The flowers are in full blossom until about the beginning of March. During the festival, there are many events held, such as the kawazuzakura light up event. In the daytime, you can enjoy local dishes from Shizuoka prefecture at the many food trucks around town
