Find the heart!

Ryugu Sea Cave is known for its sunroof that creates a beautiful sight when looked through. A well-maintained trail leads the way to this sunroof, and the journey gives you a nature-rich hike. Along this trail is actually another hidden heart. It is slightly hard to find, but it is quite the sight!

The Secret of Ryugu Sea Cave

Ryugu Sea Cave was formed as waves eroded soft coastal sediment into its current shape. As the eroded cave grew, an unstable part of the ceiling fell under its own weight, creating a kind of "sunroof" measuring approximately 40 meters across.

Aside from Ryugu Sea Cave, the Izu Peninsula has sea other sea caves with beautiful sun roofs, such as Dogashima Island and Midagutsu Cave, but neither of their sizes compare to Ryugu Sea Cave. The sight that can be seen when peeking into this sunroof, into the cave, is the reason for its reputation as a "power spot of love."

The stratum

The walls of the cave are made from layers of frozen lava. They are a burnt dark-yellow shade that really helps make the water’s vibrant blue stand out.

The inner areas of the cave are quiet and serene. Even in the summer, the cave is cool and comfortable. There are little stones all around the ground, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes when visiting the Ryugu Sea Cave.

Toji Sand Skiing Field

The Toji Sand Skiing Field locates right by the Ryugu Sea Cave. Here, you can enjoy sand skiing for free by the beautiful blue sea. The slope measures 30 degrees, and when skiing down it feels almost as if you’re diving into the ocean.

The sled used for sand skiing can be rented at a nearby shop. You can also rent out a sandboard, which is like a sand-version of the snowboard. When sand skiing, wearing goggles is an option if you want to keep the sand out of your eyes.
