Ebino Kogen Main

"Ebino Kogen" is located in Ebino city, in the southern part of Miyazaki prefecture. It is a plateau that spreads at the foot of Karakunidake, the highest peak of the Kirishima Mountains.
Ebino Kogen, at an altitude of 1,200m, is cool in summer and very cold in winter. In the spring, alpine plants such as Rhododendron and Nokaido are in full bloom. The trees become a vibrant orange in autumn, and become towering snow piles in the winter. With a beautiful view of the mountains, the "Lake-walking tour" that takes you through Ebino Kogen's three great crater lakes, is a popular hiking course. The water quality of the last “Fudo Pond” is high in acidity, and depending on the weather and timing, you can see the lake shining in a cobalt blue. One of the highlights is the Nikko Panorama Observatory, which simultaneously overlooks the two crater lakes, Byakushi-ike and Rokukannon-mike. If you want to get detailed hiking information, we recommend visiting the Ebino Eco Museum Center, a visitor center that serves as the starting point for trekking courses.
