"Kochi Municipal Memorial Museum at Ryoma’s Birthplace" is located in Kamimachi, Kochi Pref. The museum introduces the life of Ryoma Sakamto and the culture of his hometown. Ryoma Sakamoto, the patriot in the end of Tokugawa shogunate, keeps attracting many people with his personality and large-scale performance. The museum in Kamimachi, where he was born and raised, exhibits unique features such as panel exhibitions, videos utilizing digital technology and so on. You can learn with fun about Ryoma's upbringing and the spirit of Ryoma's hometown. The virtual 4-wall theatre on the 2nd floor is especially popular. You will feel like time-traveling back to the period when Ryoma lived, by surrounded by the townscape and people in those days projected in the screen. Another attraction is the townscape of Kamimachi with a row of wooden, mortar and copper-clad buildings. It is not far off from popular spots such as "Kochi Castle" and "Harimaya Bridge", and highly recommended for you to visit at your opportunity to go to Kochi.
