Manshuin Temple
Manshuin Temple
Manshuin Temple is located at the base of Mt. Hieizan of the northern part of Kyoto City. This temple has a historic lineage to a chief priest from the imperial household. Manshuin Temple still stands in the same location as when it was built over 1,200 years ago by Saichou of the Tendai Sect. The ultimate sight to see is the tea garden. The white sand that expresses waterfalls and rivers, the boat-shaped small study hall, and the Japanese white pine that beautifully resembles a crane. All these aspects make up the rich layout which makes the tea garden so much more intriguing. In addition, precious books and other important cultural assets are kept in storage.
