Shugakuin Imperial Villa
Shugakuin Imperial Villa locates in the northern area of Kyoto City, and has a beautiful, spacious garden and three tearooms. The villa was built around 350 years ago by Emperor Gomizuno. The tearooms are created in the traditional sukiya-zukuri style, and are perfect for performing traditional tea ceremonies. In the garden is Yokuryuchi Pond, a manmade pond that can be seen from Rinuntei Room. The villa is a popular site to visit during the autumn for its fall foliage. To visit, you must make a prior reservation, although there are openings on the day of on some days.
