Takatsudokyo Canyon
Takatsudokyo stretches through Omama, Midori City, in eastern Gunma Prefecture. This canyon is also called "the Yabakei of the Kanto area". During the seasons with fresh greens and fall colors, you can enjoy gorgeous views of the trees on both sides of the Watarase River.
There is a walking trail popular for hiking, that has a spectacular scenery. The white triangular Hanetaki Bridge spans the Takatsudokyo, and there people can see the canyon and Watarase River while crossing the bridge.
In addition, there are several great sightseeing spots including the Takatsudo Bridge, from which you can enjoy a whole view of the Takatsudokyo with spring cherry blossoms or autumn colors, depending on the season. While walking on the trail, you can see a pothole as well as the “Gorilla Rock”, which is nicknamed for its gorilla-like shape.
