The Saga International Balloon Fiesta is held annually from late October to early November. The festival is a ballooning competition, with over 100 hot air balloons and balloonists from all over the world gathering to test their skills. The hot air balloons ascend into the air at once, and compete in several events to see who has the best accuracy, speed and distance. On the weekend of the festival, the balloons are lit up at night, and fireworks are shot up into the sky. Near the festival venue is a local food market, where you can grab a lunch of foods grown in Saga.
