The Nunobiki Falls
The Nunobiki Falls
“The Nunobiki Falls” is located close to downtown and is a five-minute walk from Shin-Kobe station on the JR Sanyo shinkansen line. This waterfall was named as “Nunobiki Falls” due to its beautifully streaming water, which resembles cloth hanging down. It was chosen as one of the best 100 waterfalls in Japan and is known as one of the three greatest divine falls, together with “The Kegon Falls” in Tochigi Prefecture and “The Nachi Falls” in Wakayama Prefecture.
Nunobiki Falls is comprised of four falls: “Ontaki”, “Mentaki”, “Tsutsumigadaki”, and “Meotodaki”. Ontaki fall (the uppermost stream) is the most spectacular at the height of 43 meters. Tsutsumigadaki fall was named after the fact that it sounds like an instrument, a hand drum.
There are hiking trails around the waterfall, so you can casually enjoy nature. The beauty of nature surrounding the waterfall stands out especially during the seasons of fresh greenery and autumn leaves.
