Kongourin-ji Temple

Kongourin-ji Temple
”Kongourin-ji Temple" stands in Shouhozan, Aisho-cho of Aichi-gun, in Shiga Prefecture. It is a Tendai sect temple that was opened by the Great Priest Gyoki to the order of Emperor Tenmu in 741. The precinct has important cultural properties all over, including the main temple of Daihikaku Temple (a national treasure), which features a Japanese-styled design representative of the Kamakura era and the tree-story pagoda, which is said to be 40 years older than the main hall. The Meishoteien Garden is a famous spot to see the autumn leaves. The garden offers an awe-inspiring view entirely in red, which is called "Chizome-no Momiji (bloody autumn leaves)". We also recommend that you visit "Restaurant Karakubo" to enjoy Buddhist cuisines, which are cooked based on Buddhist rules, while seeing the beautiful garden.
