Nakayama Senmaida Terraced Rice Field
Nakayama Senmaida Terraced Rice Field
The Nakayama Senmaida Terraced Rice Field is located on Shodoshima island of Kagawa prefecture. These terraced rice fields are made on a hill. A total of about 800 rice fields lay on a span of around 88,000㎡. The view of the fields is especially nice between late April and late April. In July, the Nakayama Mushi-okuri, a traditional event, is held. During the event, lit-up torches are carried by townspeople marching through the fields. The rice on Nakayama Senmaida is made using water from Mount Yubune. The water is known for its clarity and cleanness. In the middle of the fields, you can find Komame Café. There, you can have onigiri (rice balls) made from the rice grown on the fields.
