Kankakei Gorge
Kankakei Gorge
Kankakei Gorge locates in the central area of Shodoshima Island in Kagawa prefecture. The gorge was created as a result of a volcanic eruption about 2 million years ago. It is known as one of the three beautiful gorges of Japan, and is known for its stunning views throughout the year, such as the fall foliage and summer greens. Using the ropeway, you can head to the top of the gorge’s mountain. The mountain, called Mount Hoshigajo is the highest spot on the island. At the peak of the mountain, there is a part and a restaurant. At the restaurant, you can enjoy Shodoshima delicacies such as somen noodles and olives. There are two hiking routes, and both take around one hour each way. Both courses take you to the gorge’s main viewing spots.
