Lake Inawashiro

Lake Inawashiro and Mount Bandai

Lake Inawashiro locates in the central area of Fukushima prefecture. It measures 1,000,000㎡, and is the fourth largest lake in Japan. The lake is slightly acidic, making it difficult for underwater plants and algae to survive. This is why the waters of Lake Inawashiro are so transparent. During the day, the lake is a beautiful cobalt blue and at sunset, the lake reflects the orange-purple skies. Behind the lake, you can see Mount Bandai, also dubbed the Bandai-Fuji, for its stunning form. When the weather is nice, you can swim in the lake and enjoy other activities like fishing. The fish you can catch at Lake Inawashiro are limited to those such as dace and crucian carp due to the acidity.
