Hanamaki Onsen, in Iwate prefecture, locates in the central western area of Iwate prefecture. The waters at Hanamaki Onsen are low in alkali and do wonders for your skin. There are four accommodation sites at Hanamaki Onsen, and the baths are free for guests. The rose garden, designed by writer Miyazawa Kenji, is a famous site as well. During the Night Rose Garden event, held between late May and early November, visitors can walk through a romantic, illuminated rose garden. Other unique events are held at Hanamaki Onsen, such as a free viewing of traditional performing arts.
