Aoike Pond

Aoike Pond is one of the Juniko Lakes, a collective name for a group of ponds and lakes in the Shirakami Sanchi, which covers areas in Aomori and Akita prefectures.
The pond’s strinkingly blue waters are mesmerizing. In the morning, it is a clear, light blue, and it transforms into a dark mysterious blue from the afternoon. From the observation area nearby, you can get a great view of Aoike Pond.
In the autumn months, the pond isn’t always blue. It is only blue during noon, so make sure you plan your visit carefully when visiting in the fall.
Nearby are other destinations such as Furofushi Onsen hot springs and Gangara hole.
