The Bank of Iwate Red Brick Building

The Bank of Iwate Red Brick Building locates in Morioka, the prefecture’s capital. The building is designated as a national important cultural property. It was built in 1911 as the head office of the Bank of Morioka, and closed in 2012. The building was designed by Tatsuno Kingo, a famous architect who also designed Tokyo Station. After some restoration and reparation, the building reopened as a multi-purpose hall and historical museum. There are many events held at the Red Brick Building throughout the year, such as concerts, local markets and photography exhibitions.
