Kamosu Shrine
Kamosu Shrine locates in Matuse, Shimane. It enshrines Izanami-no-mikoto, who is said to have given life to the land of Japan and other deities. The shrine is known to give luck in relationships, childbirth, business prosperity and more. The main hall of the shrine, built in 1583, is the oldest of its kind in Japan and designated as a national treasure. To signify that the deity enshrined is a female deity, the ip of the decoration on the roof, called chigi, is cut off flat. The smaller sub-shrine in the back of the shrine grounds, called Massha-Kifune-Inariryo-jinja, is worth seeing too. The architectural styled ates back to the Momoyama Period (1568 – 1600), and the building is designated as a national important cultural heritage.
