Aikoku Station
Aikoku Station
Aikoku Station locates in the city of Obihiro in central eastern Hokkaido. It was a station on the Hiroo Line, and is now no longer in use. The station name translates to “country of love”, and its romantic name helped it gain popularity as a good luck spot, along with Kofuku (happiness) Station, located about a 15-minute drive away. The station building is now used as a memorial hall, and has items such as tickets from when the station was in use. The platform of the station, too, retains a nostalgic look. In front of the station, you can find a ticket memorial, which is popular as a photo spot. About a 20-minute walk from Aikoku Station, you can find Aikoku-jinja Shrine. The shrine has heart-shaped ema (wooden plaques) that you can write down your wishes on.
