Kansendo-so-honten
Kansendo-so-honten, in Gifu City, Gifu Prefecture, is a traditional Japanese confectionary maker that was founded in 1879. The confectionary maker carries various seasonal sweets, besides Gifu’s famed ayu-gashi confectionary. One of the most popular items is it’s mini-sized ayu-gashi, which is about 5cm long, about the size of one's thumb. It is said to be Gifu’s smallest ayu-gashi, and its appeal lies in its lovable bite-size shape. The "gyuhi" rice paste filling is seasonaly rotated, making this sweet an ideal seasonal gift or a present for family and friends back home. Kansendo-so-honten also sells matcha green tea, which is a great companion to Japanese sweets.
